any uses for old dry yeast?
I'm cleaning out a kitchen cupboard and found some lost old packages of Red Star Active Dry Yeast. Expired a couple of years ago, so I doubt they're any good for baking. Is there anything useful to do with them?

1. Proof them
the next time you make bread. If there's any fizz at all, use that instead of new yeast. The process will slow you down only the 5 minutes it takes to proof yeast.

If you don't want to be bothered, toss it.

3. I second Warpy's suggestion.
If it works, great! If not, you're only outta cup of hot water and five minutes of your time. :hi:
