Has anyone ever tried these?
Mamie's Famous Cheese Wafers: http://www.mamieswafers.com/

The friend at work that I always swap recipes and nibbles of things we've made gave me a roll of these today. Never heard of them but they sound intriguing.

1. Yummy.
You can get them at Petty's in Tulsa at Utica Square. I love cheese straws and I bet these taste something like that.

7. That's what she told me.

But for some reason, she likes to order them from the company direct. She says they're fresher that way but they are still frozen. Plus the company charges $20 to ship just three of the rolls.

Do you know that in the over 10 years I've lived here, I have yet to go to Petty's? It just is rarely in my path, ya know?

2. Want the recipe?
1/2 c. butter
1 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
1/2 c. chopped nuts
2 c. grated cheese

Cream the butter. Sift flour; add salt, pepper, nuts and cheese. Add mixture to creamed butter. Make into two rolls. Chill in refrigerator. Slice thin. Bake in hot oven about 450 degrees F. about 10 minutes. Remove wafers from cookie sheet and cool on racks.

Makes about 5 dozen.

6. So...
do you just serve them as they are once they're baked or do you use them for canapes or is both acceptable?

10. With cheddar and cayenne?
I'm thinking savory toppings here, not necessarily sweet. Hmmmm.
