Since I know its snowing where I came from a few years ago, I am having soup today. A recipe my cousin in Barcelona gave me is Garlic Soup.

GARLIC SOUP
Put about 1/2 inch to 1 inch of olive oil in a pot.
Throw in 4 or 5 pods of fresh garlic and salt to taste.
Simmer til garlics are tan, not brown. Remove from heat.
After oil has cooled, add as much water as you need to serve.
Now add some day old bread, broken in pieces. Simmer
for a few minutes and serve.

I have added another ingredient. I crumble up 4 or 5
tortillas in about a quart of the soup, which makes it
look like a cream soup.

1. I love garlic soup
I'm still trying to recreate the soup I had at a restaurant on the Baja peninsula 20 years ago! On the off chance anyone has been there, it was the airport restaurant in Mulege.

Thanks for posting this.

3. that would be the Hotel Serenidad....
I like the garlic soup at Las Casitas in town a bit better. *Sigh* I was going down there for Christmas, but changed my plans. Now I'm regretting it a bit.

We camped on the beach the whole time we were there. It was idyllic :sigh: .

2. It's 5 degrees here in New Hampshire - wood stove is cranked, soup is on
Just finished a carrot soup about 10 minutes ago - with garlic, ginger, touch of crushed red pepper, chipotle chili powder, cumin, curry, and cinnamon.

I'm really into soups now, and plan on making some so I have some available in the fridge most every day. I'm pretty good at carrot soup now, need to work on my tomato soup next.
