Anyone have experience with later eMacs?
I'm considering buying a used G4, ~1 GHz or so, but I'm concerned about what happens if the CRT fails. Is there any way to connect a second monitor, or use the eMac as a SCSI device (like PowerBooks)?

Anyone ever had a CRT fail in an eMac or iMac?

Other problems?

1. I believe they have a mini-VGA port for an external monitor
that will work with an adaptor. Other World Computing or Headgap might have the adaptor you need. I used an ole G3 iMac once with an external monitor, and it did fine until I upgraded. The adaptor for that cost about $15.00.

2. Thanks, but I'm not sure that's true of eMacs.
I'm pricing iMacs too, though, so that may still be useful info.

3. Here are some posts from the Apple board.

The iMac I mentioned was was an old Blueberry tray loader I purchased in 1998. I had to take the bottom off, go inside, disconnect the cable going to the built-in CRT, and connect the adapter and cable for the external monitor. Don't know about the more recent iMacs you're looking at, but there are plenty of discussions on the various Apple boards about doing similar tricks.
