HSUS still against Amazon?
Or was that ever settled?

For those who aren't sure what I'm talking about, Amazon.com was selling dogfighting videos and paraphernalia and the HSUS was trying to get them to stop. I've sent letters, etc, but have not heard anything back.

Does anyone know if this issue has been resolved? A friend has a birthday coming up and there are some books Amazon has that we cannot get locally but I will not use their service if they're still active in the dogfight industry.

1. Amazon is still selling books/mags about dog fighting and cockfighting.
They have removed some material, but they're far from done.

3. I sent them a letter today...
I told them that until they removed this objectionable material they should also remove my account. This is the reply that I received from them:

That selection includes some items which many people may find objectionable. Therefore, the items offered on our website represent a wide spectrum of opinions on a variety of topics.

Amazon.com believes it is censorship not to sell certain titles because we believe their message is objectionable. Therefore, we'll continue to make controversial works available in the United States and everywhere else, except where they're prohibited by law.

We also allow readers, authors, and publishers to express their views freely about these titles and other products we offer on our website. However, Amazon.com doesn't endorse opinions expressed by individual authors, musical artists, or filmmakers.

We value all feedback from our customers, and I thank you again for taking the time to send us your comments about this issue.

Although we won't be able to comment further on this topic, we hope you'll allow us to continue to serve you.

4. Just for the record, the cockfighting lit is illegal, not objectionable.
HSUS has filed suit in the matter (still pending). I'm not one for censorship. but I don't think there's place for books on how to raise a fighting dog any more than there is one for "Dahmer's Crock Pot Tips: Fingers and Toes".

5. Agreed...
And that was what I said in my reply...well, except for the recipe book suggestion. :-)
