While everybody is getting stoned on turkey and starch this holiday season, you're hoping to join a secret collective of super-intelligent scientists who will invent faster-than-light travel and cure cancer. We understand. That's why we've put together this list of great science books that came out in the past year — they're the perfect gifts for people with inquiring minds (including you!).

3. I hate it when people do this.
Fortunately, I was able to confine my Amazon 1-clicking to a single book, which is an amazing display of self-control for me.

4. Wow, thank you! This is a great Christmas list. One I want to buy for myself is this one:

The Psychopath Test: A Journey Through The Madness Industry, by Jon Ronson (Riverhead)

(I'm hoping it will help me understand Republicans better).

6. I can vouch for the James Gleick book
Gleick is one of my favorite science writers. 'Information' continues and updates a few of the themes he touched on in 'Faster' and is well worth the read.
