X Prize Team
Hey DU,
I rarely post here due to political differences, but so far I have managed to also not get banned and I have never hid who I am.

That being said, I am here to let you know that I am trying to work towards something that transcends politics and should not be limited to any political view point.

I am one of the founding members of a brand new team that has decided to go after the Google Lunar X Prize.
http://www.googlelunarxprize.org/

We are looking for team members. We need all sorts of skills, from media relations to astrophysics experts and everything in between.

I truley believe that we need to learn to work in space in order to better help our planet and species. Our goal is to win the X-Prize and when done have a fully functioning aerospace company with a succesful lunar launch on its resume. This would be a great platform to get a start in becoming a species able to move off the bounds of our planet and move to the next stage.

If you think you might be able to contribute something please follow the link and check out the forum. It is only about 48 hours old, so we have a long way to go.

PM me (Chris) when you get there and I will set you user level high enough to see the other areas of the board not open to regular visitors.

Here is our Site
http://www.spacepride.com/xprizeforum/index.php

Thanks for your time,

-Chris

4. Wow, thanks
And I thought the future of our species should be something we should all consider important.
That makes me a "fucknut"?

7. If your serious..
Edited on Fri Oct-30-09 12:05 PM by ChrisMCV
We actually might.
Testing rockets just might have *some* impact on the environment around them. I am sure there are a lot of factors to consider and I would not rule out anything at this point.
Log in and register. Even if you don't do anything now, having someone to at least contact is a HUGE help.

And as for the welcome wagon, yeah, I know. I just posted a few times before and while we disagreed, most people were still civil with things.

8. Perclorates. Not unusual, and frowned upon by the regulatory community.
I'll pop in and register.

5. Lunar Lander Test Live Coverage
For those interested, here is a link to live coverage of the Lunar Lander Contest. They are getting ready to flight test one of the teams landers.

14. $1,000,000 riding on a truck loading
Yikes, they have 2 and a half minutes to get the lander back on the truck to qualify to win.
The flights were perfect though.

10. OK
Glad we are all capable of overcoming diffferences for the greater good.

Nothing like reaching my hand out and getting slapped in the face, woohoo, thanks for that.

That is my problem with our political divide in the past few years, our biases blind us to the possibilities of what we can achieve together, and it seems to doom us to achieve nothing apart.

So I can see where you are coming from intellectually.
From what I've seen its pretty wishy washy.

I've was banned a long time ago on LGF and still have
antagonists from there that I deal with. You haven't earned my trust.

I guess I can understand being weary.
More then getting post counts up, we are still getting the entire documentation process ironed out and developed so it can go online. Chris W, the real heart of the team is getting the rover prototype going and will have the rough done very quickly, he has a tremendous amount of experience with rapidly fabricating ROVs. There are several people involved that are also not on the forum yet, so it is a bit vague for now, but as I said, its only been up a bit over 48 hours.

Give us a bit of time to get things documented and some personal info up so you can see who's on board so far. There are some quick profiles, but they don't reflect what some of those guys have managed to pull off already, which is why I am willing to work with them.

-edited because a lander is not a rover, man is it ever Friday.

15. Always glad to see folks taking a shot at those competitions regardless of their politics
Being an historian-in-training I probably can't contribute much, but generally speaking I wish equal luck to all the X-prize contestants, since that's one of those things where everyone wins in the long term.

16. Me too (watching the grumman challange live)
Yeah, its so NOT political too me.
Chris W and I have been working together doing things like this (on a much smaller scale) for damn near a decade.

I don't even know his political views or anything like that, it just never came up and I really could give a crap if he was a royalist who worships cowdung, LOL.
