1863 - UNCLE TOM'S CABIN

UNCLE TOM'S CABIN

This auction is for an original 1863 edition of "UNCLE TOM'S CABIN" by Harriet Beecher Stowe. This very early edition was published in London and, unlike the 1852 1st Edition published in the United States, this edition is VOLUME 1 & 2 combined into one book. Those of you who follow our auctions know that we specialize in early editions of "Uncle Tom's Cabin."

2. No. Perusing the antique book pages of ebay is a favorite hobby1
I've posted a few other historic classics at DU when there's something interesting, timely and/or appropriate to a discussion. And sometimes just the pictures from some of these really old books are worth a look. I have rarely bid on anything.

4.  I've sold a few antiquarian books there.
Books aren't my specialty, but once in a while I pick up something that I know will be appreciated on eBay by someone, somewhere. To wit: a religious tome that had a Charles Wesley signature in the front. That was fun to find, research and sell.

I do love antiquarian books, and enjoyed seeing the Uncle Tom's Cabin images. Thanks.

3. It is in excellent condition....
I've seen copies (of the 2 part version) that were falling apart, missing pages, even without the covers, go for hundreds of dollars. You might see one of these a year listed and this is by far the best condition I've ever seen one in. This is a true find and should fetch a good price. A friend of mine found a copy of the first American printing (book 2) at a garage sale and paid 50 cents for it. To my knowledge he hasn't sold it yet. Some people have all the luck.
