CSPAN Hearing: Insurance CO's Criminal Ponzi Scheme Denies Treatment to Sick & Dying

The CSPAN VIDEO IS AT THIS LINK

House Energy and Commerce Subcmte. on Terminations of Individual Health Policies
Tuesday, June 16, 2009

The House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations holds a hearing examining the practice of "post-claims underwriting," which occurs when insurance companies cancel individual health insurance policies after providers submit claims for medical services.

The video is testimony to congress about how Insurance Companies trick and confuse the insureds in order to avoid paying for at times life saving urgent treatment!

THAT IS BETTER THAN SINGLE PAYER??????

As the public insurance option is being attacked in many quarters by private insurance companies and others in the private medical-industrial complex, a little publicized hearing of the US House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee held on June 16, 2009 exposed the true nature of private insurance companies who offer and sell coverage to individuals (not groups) who are the most powerless and vulnerable to insurance companies' callous disregard for their policy holders' health. These companies show unbridled greed for profits as treatment coverage is denied which, at best is criminal negligence and, at worst, is murder, as these untreated and unfortunate policy holders mostly succumb to their diseases and die.

These hearings exposed the horrendous, criminal and potentially deadly behavior of insurance companies who gladly receive monthly premium payments for years when no claims are filed by the policy holder. But then, after a claim if filed to pay for treatment of a minor, or major and life threatening illness such as breast cancer or non-hodgkins lymphoma, the insurance company combs through all the submitted medical records, the submission of which was a condition of initial coverage, to fabricate a reason not to pay for treatment, and to cancel the policy back to its original coverage date.

One insurance company refused to cover a Texas woman's double mastectomy to stop breast cancer, because years before she vainly took 10 pounds off her weight on a medical form. The woman's treatment coverage was delayed twice, but later approved when her congressperson's staff assisted her. The delay in treatment caused the tumors to double in size, all lympth nodes had to be removed, and her survival is in serious doubt as a result.

...The overriding point of this hearing is most people w/ individual coverage don't have the expert support indviduals or financial resources to fight the insurance companies' totally unjustified and potentially criminal behavior of canceling policies to make additional profits as policy holders die.

At least Madoff's ponzi scheme paid interest to intice more investments and create the illusion of a sound investment.

The health insurance companies are running an empty ponzi scheme w/ individual policy holders as they collect monthly premiums for years then unjustifably refuse treatment coverage for minor or major disease treatment to increase their profits as policy holders remain untreated, remain severely ill, and often die.
