Healthcare 101 - The republicans are misleading the nation
I don't understand why the republicans are opposed to single-payer or variants of the same for healthcare. I don't see them complaint about education system where folks go to schools in their towns. Why can't we have a similar setup?
Why can't we have a government administered healthcare service provider - Medicare, if you want to call it that; which shall compete with the private players. The public will have an option of option for this public HSP or if are not enamored by it, opt for private healthcare insurance. Isn't that the principle of free economy? The best & the most efficient players win and the profit making gets squeezed.
I also want to disabuse the notion that government owned companies cannot compete in the global economy. If so, can someone explain to me how EADS is one of the world's largest aircraft OEM?
1. It may help if you accept the premise that any form of social program
is anathema to Conservatives. They simply do not believe this is responsibility of the Government. Keep in mind they have been everything they can to undo programs initiated by FDR and LBJ for years. I must say they have been pretty successful. If you could see what Medicare was like in early eighties and compare it to now. It has been gutted.
They will say things like--we cannot afford it. They develop straw men. The American people want to keep their own doctor. They rarely will say as the believe--It is not the role of government
They do things to obstruct it passage instead.
Their focus is the Individual. The Common good is not really part of their lexicon. Individuals are responsible for themselve therefore their healthcare.
