Who's tried eating chia seeds?
They're evidently a good source of polyunsaturated, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids.

I first learned about chia from "Born to Run" which I haven't yet finished reading. http://www.powells.com/biblio?show=hardcover:sale:9780307266309:17.46

1. Soak them first.
If you soak them in chocolate almond milk in the fridge they turn into a pudding. Mmmmm!!111!!! One of my favs. Good for the tummy too.

5. Good idea because eating them the way them come
is just like having a mouthful of fleas.

3. Just like Cannabis seeds.
Except Cannabis seeds have more protein and they're illegal for some reason.

4. They're very healthy!
I use them in a variety of ways, though not as often as I should. I've stirred them into soups, sprinkled them on salads, and mixed them into V8 juice. I looked the nutritional content up once and was really amazed.

6. The cannibis or the chia?
About the chia, if you don't ground them up do you get any of the nutrition? I know you get the belly-filling gel from the seed coats, but don't the rest just come out of you the same as they went in?

7. I was talking about the chia.
I don't know if our digestive systems are equipped to extract nutrients from the uncrushed chia seeds, so I do subject them to a session in a mortar and pestle first.

In Mexico, chia seeds are ground into a flour called pinole, which is used in many different recipes.

9. If they are gelatinous, then they resemble flax in that sense...
In other words, they expand with liquid. But make sure to grind them because you will not digest them otherwise.
