5-Loxin and osteoarthritis
July 30, 2008
5-Loxin® rapidly improves arthritis symptoms

An article published online on July 29, 2008 in the journal Arthritis Research & Therapy reported the finding of researchers at the University of California, Davis of significant and rapid improvement of osteoarthritis symptoms in patients treated with the herb Boswellia serrata. Boswellia serrata, also known as frankincense, has been used for thousands of years in Indian Ayurvedic medicine, and has become popular in western countries among individuals desiring to use nontoxic arthritis remedies.

For the current randomized, double-blinded trial, Siba Raychaudhuri and colleagues used a formulation called 5-Loxin®, which is an extract of Boswellia serrata enhanced with 30% 3-O-acetyl-11-keto-beta-boswellic acid (AKBA, the plant's most active ingredient). Seventy patients who had been treated for osteoarthritis with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs prior to the study were divided to receive 100 or 250 milligrams 5-Loxin® per day, or a placebo for 90 days. Participants were evaluated after 1 week and at the end of each month until the study's conclusion, during which blood samples were collected and assessed for proinflammatory and toxicity indicators. Matrix metalloproteinase-3, an enzyme involved in joint damage, was measured in knee synovial fluid at the beginning and end of the study.

As early as 7 days after beginning treatment with high dose 5-Loxin®, participants reported improvements in pain and functional ability. By the end of the study, both low and high dose-Loxin® were associated with pain and function improvement, and synovial fluid matrix metalloproteinase-3 was reduced. No adverse treatment effects were noted.

"The high incidence of adverse affects associated with currently available medications has created great interest in the search for an effective and safe alternative treatment," Dr Raychaudhuri stated, "AKBA has anti-inflammatory properties, and we have shown that B. serrata enriched with AKBA can be an effective treatment for osteoarthritis of the knee".

Tell you what - sign up for a college course, Google up a term paper, and copy it word for word as your own and submit it. Tell me what grade you get.

9. Let's check your reading comprehension.... now tell the class
what this says and then describe exactly what it means. It is an exact copy of what is contained in the first sentence of the article I CUT and PASTED.

>>An article published online on July 29, 2008 in the journal Arthritis Research & Therapy<<

Please try not to fail this simple test.

10. Oh my goodness, YOU'RE the one who needs reading comprehension.
That first sentence tells where the article's subject CAME FROM. Your cut & paste itself did NOT come from the journal, did it?

LMAO!!!!!

I am truly amazed you can continue to show your disgraced and humiliated face in here.

11. I am truly amazed at what makes you feel good. FR could use a
few more like yourself. Doesn't take much to amuse a mind such as yours... pity that. "The article's subject" came from somewhere else. LEF did not do the research. What you are supposed to do like your twin is discount the information, deny the claims or just say something stupid. Well, you got one part right.

Ad hominem attacks are not recommended in the rules on DU, and that is all you seem to be capable of producing... so, from now on when you put some crap in here what I will see is "Ignore". Have a nice day.

12. Ad hominem?
Let me get this straight: I point out that you're plagiarizing, you tell me I belong on FreeRepublic, and *I'm* the one who's engaging in ad hom?

I am proud to be on your ignore list - but that won't stop me from pointing out your mistakes in the future.
