"Herbal medicines may not contain all the information that consumers need to use them safely, a new study suggests.

Researchers from the University of Leeds bought 68 different products of five commonly used remedies

The investigators then compared the information that was provided with the products to safety information from the U.S. National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine to check the completeness and accuracy of precautions, potential drug interactions and side-effects.

The analysis, published in Tuesday's issue of the journal BMC Medicine, showed that three-quarters of the products (51 of 68) contained none of the key safety messages.

1. I look up info on every medicine I take.
It is easy as heck to do. I don't need anyone making these kinds of decisions for me.

2. It's also "easy as heck" to find bad information on medicine.
And that's only one of the issues at play here.

No need to license or educate MDs or nurses. No need to regulate "Big Pharma." Heck, who needs regulations at all? Let's go back to the good old days of the 19th century! Woo hoo! It's fun to keep everyone guessing, and keep those scams legal! AWESOME!

10. That is a pretty juvenile response
I am a retired RN but anyone in this day and age can look this stuff up. I stand by my statement.

12. No, it's not.
Your "nanny state" response was juvenile. If you're truly an RN, then you've forgotten the reality for much of the population, and that's quite sad.
