1. That's very thoughtful of you. I hope someone takes you up on this.
I'm moving to CA myself next week... glad to vacate this red state.

3. I love the idea of fellow DUers moving to my fine state;
however, just to warn ... 3-1/2 years ago, I marched up to the salesperson and offered $360K in cash for a 4,700 square-foot tract (with a yard big enough for a spa, a pool, and a little casita)(I would arrange my own mortgage in other words). Now, my home type is selling for around $750-$800K; so, we have had an explosion of sorts.

I feel that prices will drop soon, and plenty of fixer-uppers are available for those willing to put a little work into the home in question.

Just fair warning.

5. similar case here
my property in Sonoma Valley got too rich for our blood. got us enough to buy a brand new home twice as large; the only problem , its in Socal. I miss Sonoma daily, but it was 4 acres and we are getting old. A farm demands all your time.

6. I quite understand.
We were going to build a home on four acres; someone offered us, basically, $150K in profit. We took the $, and bought the nice tract-home in the Temecula Valley in SoCal. I'm happy, though, and I can't complain. We are blessed, really.

Glad to see one stick for oneself and benefit.
