click on a letter, find a biography and watch the person's video

interesting, personal, heartwarming, heartbreaking

i think it's a great idea (and a rather daunting task to put together and start defining gay history in chicago)

the above link is from one of the people that was interviewed, the topic "2007 gay issues/current administration"

2. I enjoy learning gay history
There is some really interesting work going on in the field. I've read books on the history of gay life in New York and San Francisco, but always wished someone would focus more on the Midwest (since that's where I'm from). This sounds like a very interesting project.

3. I actually personally know one of those who is profiled, and

another has the same name of a woman with whom I used to work, though I do not believe that is the same woman - hard to tell because it's been almost 20 years now. Others, like Tunney, are well-known in Chicago's GLBT community.

Thanks for posting this. :)

4. Wonderful to see this site. I lived in Chicago 25 years and know several of these people.
Plus I was an inductee to the Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame in 1995.

Am celebrating 39 years of gay activism this year at the Parade Parade in Chicago in June.

It's so terrific to see that someone took the time to put some Chicago history here.

I know a few journalists who were attempting to write books about early Chicago gay life.

One of them was Suki from Windy City Times. He interviewed me years ago.

Also another fellow who contacted me who was trying to get info to do a DVD of the history.

Now that I live in Wisconsin since 1992 it's harder to keep any contacts going.

So it was great to see something here at DU. Keep going.

5. What an honor!
You, sir, are in great company being inducted into the Chicago Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame...the late Harold Washington, Studs Terkel...I believe that the Chicago Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame is one of a kind. I'm glad that our city recognizes the impact gay and lesbian people have made.

After reading excellent books like Gay New York and Gay LA, it's nice to see history of gay and lesbian people in Chicago available. And of course, there's the Gerber/Hart library here.

Thanks for posting. I'm going to march, for the first time, in Chicago's Pride Parade. With a contingent of people from Roosevelt University, where I work. I'm looking forward to it. :-)

7. Congratulations on your going to march. It's and incredible affirming experience.
I will be on the Hall of Fame float holding a sign that says:

"marched in first parade - 1969" We all have to start somewhere.

Look for me and that sign and come up and say hello. Name is Nick.
