Pride rally protesters appear in Elmira City Court
Pride rally protesters appear in Elmira City Court
July 23, 2007
Star-Gazette

The seven protesters who entered the pride diversity rally in Wisner Park June 23, appeared in Elmira City Court this morning. The protesters were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct shortly after entering the park and lying down before the stage, as one of them sat down and read the Bible.

The seven men and women, dressed in bright red T-shirts and carrying Bibles, wore T-shirts that read "Liberated from Sin" on the front, around a white cross, and "By the Blood of Jesus" on the back.

Three of the seven protesters that appeared today had their disorderly conduct cases adjourned for six months in consideration of dismissal. The protesters were Jennifer Taylor, 24, of Elmira; Barry Keller, 63, of Wellsburg; and Sarah Forrest, 26, of Elmira. If there is no further problem involving these three people, the charges were be dismissed, according to court officials.
