The strongest (& funniest) argument for why homosexuality is not a choice
Homosexuality is not a choice--I don't care how many "ex-gays" Christian conservatives can trot out for the cameras. My proof that homosexuality is not a choice? A question for my straight male readers: Is there anything I could do or say or write that would convince you to willingly, happily, eagerly, anxiously, deliriously, lustfully put my dick in your mouth and leave it there until I had an orgasm? I rest my case.

From "Skipping Towards Gomorrah" by Dan Savage (page 79)

1. No, but then there are probably quite a few straight women...
Edited on Sun Sep-10-06 01:12 AM by Kutjara
...who wouldn't be thrilled by the idea either.

For the purposes of clarity, I'm not speaking about your dick in particular, just the whole dick/mouth thing in general. I'm sure your dick is very nice. ;)

4. I'm a female so I don't have a dick
And the argument wasn't mine, but Dan Savage's. But thanks for the sentiments all the same. :hi:

...screen-name, if I actually had a brain. Still, I'm sure that if you had a dick, it would be very n... oh never mind. I'll just go and hide for awhile.

5. I always have
I was born a lesbian and knew from the moment I began having crushes on girl TV characters instead of boys that something was different. The whole "choice" notion is held by people who want to make themselves feel better about villifying us and discriminating against us.

My two favorites were Angela Cartwright from reruns of Lost in Space

and Melissa Sue Anderson from Little House on the Prarie (yeah, I was a geek).

25. I'm so sick of them thinking it's a choice, that
I have considered turning them against each other for entertainment. One well placed rumor could get a fundy freeper in this area beaten up.

23. To the people who believe it is a choice
If I ever get into a conversation with someone who says sexuality is a "choice" I immediately tell them that they're bisexual. The only people who think it's a choice are people who have made that so-called choice. Therefore they are bisexual. I usually get hit with stunned silence.

I actually think the vast middle of the population is bisexual. People don't act on their feelings because of societal pressures.

I know it's not a popular opinion, but I'm sticking to it.

indication that we are living in a very primitive culture.

6. Even if it was a choice...
...(and I'm not suggesting for one microsecond that it is), so what? If a whole bunch of people just up and 'decided' they wanted to explore a different sexual alignment and went off and did just that, what business is it of anyone but themselves? As long as people are of adequate age and mental capacity, there is no earthly reason why they shouldn't be permitted, nay encouraged, to do precisely as they please - subject to the proviso they don't harm anyone else. This should be everyone's inalienable right, regardless of what they want to do.

Is homosexuality nature or nurture? Who gives a flying fuck!

9. That's the central issue the virtuecrats can't get over
subject to the proviso they don't harm anyone else

If the parties involved are consenting adults who are not harming anybody else then who gives a flying rip what they are doing?

17. Those aren't acts of true homosexuality
In some cases it is simply rape, for the same reasons men rape women and vice versa--power and domination.

In others it is merely a situation of necessity. Sexual release is desired and out of necessity male-on-male behavior is utilized for that release. If women were available these men would never engage in the male/male sex acts. There is no "joy, lust, passion, desire" etc. between the partners, merely release.

24. not sure i buy this one
the rape part fine - i agree - it is all about power. the "necessity" part? nope, sorry I disagree. I would LOVE to agree because I COULD have used it with my ex-wife (ummm, honey, I really wanted to have sex with YOU but YOU were not at the truck stop last night...) doesn't wash with me. FWIW, by new SO is always home with me at night - and the "necessity" problem is solved. Thank god for my DVD player - aka - my SO

"Gee honey, you weren't at the truck stop last night"

and

"I was locked away from women for 10 years"

26. One problem with the logic of Dan Savage's comment...
Half these fucking straight guys can't get straight women to "willingly, happily, eagerly, anxiously, deliriously, lustfully" suck their own cocks. Straights are used to connecting lustless, dutiful intercourse with compulsory heterosexuality.

28. His point is
Most straight men would be repulsed by the idea of sucking another man's penis. A few could do it if they felt compelled to (duress, for money) but wouldn't enjoy it. Only a man who was actually gay by nature would do it and get blissful enjoyment out of it.
