Gay Flowers For Mass. Lawmakers As Marriage Threat Looms On Anniversary
http://www.365gay.com/Newscon06/05/051606mass.htm

As gay and lesbian couples throughout Massachusetts began to celebrate the second anniversary of the first legal same-sex marriages in the country the possibility those marriages could be nullified is sparking dozens of couples to act.

The Massachusetts House and Senate will meet in a special session on July 12 to consider a so-called citizens' initiative petition that would ban same-sex marriages in the state.

The measure, which already is being challenged in court, requires only 50 votes to move on to a second convention in 2007. If successful, the question would appear on the 2008 general election ballot.

Today dozens of same-sex couples who have married in the state will make the rounds at the State House to mark the second anniversary of equal marriage rights.
