US senator slams gay marriage ban
Former US Senator John Danforth broke ranks with many fellow Republicans over the weekend as he criticised as "silly" the effort to amend the Constitution to ban same-sex marriage.

Danforth, Republican of US state Missouri, once dubbed "Saint Jack" because he liked to stake out the moral high ground in political debates, made his remarks on Saturday at the Log Cabin (Lesbian and Gay) Republican national convention in Washington, DC.

Danforth, who is now an ordained Episcopal priest, told the crowd of hundreds that the anti-gay amendment was one more sign of how religious conservatives hurt the GOP's mission.

In the past, he has called this the "us-vs-them, my-God-is-bigger-than-your-God, velvet-fist variety of Christian evangelism".

Maybe there is hope after all.

2. I'm glad to see some are finally coming to their senses.
With all the problems in the world today, this is such a trivial thing to be concerned with.

Being gay is a natural and normal as having red hair.

Gay people do not have an agenda to turn other people gay. Even if they wanted to, the facts are it just wouldn't work. You're either gay or straight or bi, but you make that decision for yourself, external influences don't normally do it for you.

To preserve the sanctity of marriage, eliminate divorce. That will do it. Period.

These phony Christian groups who judge and condemn others are not really Christians. True Christians do not do such things, they love and accept and help others. They do not understand the "values" of condemnation and discrimination. Those are not Christian values.
