Poll question: Does Shrub hate Gay People?
Just curiouse.

I am almost wanting him to actually hate gay people rather then simply using homophobia to win elections. At least an honest Bigot can (hopefuly) eventually see that he is wrong and change. But somebody cynicaly pushing hate for an agenda won't. He already knows he's wrong but doesn't care since it gets him something.

4. I thought he hated gays until that recorded conversation...
....came out after the election. Like you, I would rather he hated gays than use us as scapegoats. It's so Hitleresque.

20. These tapes. I take 'em with a grain of salt.
Maybe they were released by accident on purpose because they ALMOST put chimpy in a good light on some issues. I say almost because he still sat back and let his thugs do their thing.

>>>>>The conversations spend much time on Bush's religious beliefs and his courting of the evangelical right. At one point, according to the Times report, Bush seemed concerned that evangelicals wanted him to come out publicly against homosexuality.

"I think he wants me to attack homosexuals," Bush said after meeting high-profile Texas preacher James Robison.

The future president said he told Robison, " 'Look, James, I got to tell you two things right off the bat. One, I'm not going to kick gays, because I'm a sinner. How can I differentiate sin?' "

Referring to one conservative group, Bush said, "This crowd uses gays as the enemy. It's hard to distinguish between fear of the homosexual political agenda and fear of homosexuality, however." <<<<

6. If his pal KKKarl says it's ok to manipulate lesbian and gay people
Edited on Tue Apr-18-06 09:51 PM by Old Crusoe
then my hunch is that Dubya figures it's ok.

Why else would KKKarl tell him to support an amendment banning gay marriage if it wasn't in everybody's best interest, is how Dubya might think of it.

If he thinks of it at all.

He seems to do what he's told most of the time, and a lot of the gay-baiting we hear from Dubya's lips may well have had its genesis in KKKarl Rove's office.

I don't think Dubya is perceptive enough to register the fact that this kind of hateful manipulation is regressive and actually harms real people trying to live real lives.

There's such a big difference between being a compassionate conservative and being a brainless asshole.

8. Self-loathing...

... someone needs to tell GW how to get out of the closet. I mean, Victor Ashe? Hemmorhoids after Yale? Jeff Gannon?

15. And there is a hooker who has an interesting story to tell...
Shrubbie and Victor hired her to do a threesome, and she was VERY offended that they then totally ignored her for each other!

9. I think he just sees other people as tools for his pleasure and promotion.
I don't think he has enough of a conscience to "feel" anything, love or hate, whether for gays, or kids, or anyone that doesn't resemble him in the mirror. Okay, maybe he's pathologically indifferent. I'm looking forward to someone someday doing an Terry Schiavo-type inspection of his brain.

He is at the very least Bi. Weren't the twins conceived in Vitriol? There have been persistent rumors about that guy from Nashville. And don't forget all that rumored necro-sexual ritual behavior while in Skull and Bones, "your Scotty is prettier than our Scotty" and Guckert--8 inches uncut

11. I chose the second option

but really, I have no idea. I just think it’s an “issue” to Shrub, just another issue to use and manipulate to his advantage as a means to power. He doesn’t care one way or another whether doing this or that hurts anyone. If supporting gay rights was the means to power for him, he would be out there campaigning for gay marriage etc…

18. Nope.. He loves Us!
He loves glbt's with every fiber of his being. We have delivered his fondest wishes and we are the doorway through which he can bring his theocratic tyranny to fruition (no pun). American's hatred for their glbt children will cause them to hand over their bill of rights, their checks and balances of government, their military and their constitution .... to a madman. (Sorry... make that past tense.)

Oh.. he loves us... count on it.

I think he's personally indifferent to us. But he must maintain his bigoted base. Thus, his agenda...including demonizing us every election cycle.

22. He doesn't care one way or the other...
...which is probably worse than just being too close-minded or stupid to accept gay people. That's why I especially detest him.

Close-minded people, who have lived out in the cornfield of Nebraska or something all their lives, and never known anything but what their family taught them -- it's a little more understandable. I'm certainly not giving those folks a pass, and they're still wrong, but at least I can somewhat see where they are coming from.

Bush, on the other hand, is doing all of this simply to get ahead politically, which is fucking shameful. Him and all these other politicians are doing it, and it's every bit as shameful as people in the past that used blacks and other minorities to trump up support for themselves, and history will prove this. I only hope I get to live long enough to see how badly history will look down on Bush and this administration, and since I'm only in my mid-20's, I at least figure I have a fighting chance :)
