Survivor's Lesbian Liplock Blackout | "the country voted"....
Killarney posted this in GD but, you HAD to see it!
From today's Entertainment Weekly. (I don't know if it's online, I'm just transcribing it from my copy).

EW's Burning Question of the Week

Q. Survivor's visit-from-the-loved-ones episode Nov. 25 cut away from Ami's and Scout's reunions with their same-sex partners. Why no kisses?

A. "I'd be an idiot not to notice both the way the country voted and the backlash from the FCC that came off of Janet Jackson's ," admits exec producer Mark Burnett, who says CBS wasn't involved. "I wanted to protect my franchise and didn't think it was right to show both lesbian kisses at 8 o'clock. I can't be any more honest than that, can I?"

yup! the country VOTED to suppress positive gay images on your TV. sorry WIll, have the GRACE to accept your christian conversion like a man!

keep your eyes on this! it will be happening so fast...

2. Good God more gutless wonders
Why even have gay people on reality TV at all then? Just exclude them from casting. Maybe I don't want to see old people kissing huh? What about the clean shaven? Isn't that anti-biblical?

Yeah, Mr. Australian TV guy-listen to the what the great country is telling you-by the great moral majority that voted-(we don't like them gays being in love) and act accordingly. Bleech.

3. Of course, this is to be expected . . . this happens whenever

there's somebody calling the shots, if you will, such as Michael Powell, Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), who makes subjective arbitrary and capricious rulings so that nobody knows where the hell they stand or what they should do.

So if you were a lawyer representing CBS (executive producer Mark Burnett), knowing that your corporate client CBS wants to avoid litigation and an FCC monetary fine and/or worse, wouldn't you advise Burnett/CBS to "tone-down" their program as they did? Of course you would, you've got an obligation to so advise your client to lay low u/ these facts and circumstances.

And that sucks.

This is why the law frowns upon subjective rulings, e.g., arbitrary and capricious crapola . . . because it causes a "chilling effect" upon (Burnett/CBS's and others) constitutional first amendment rights of free speech despite their FCC license incentive to comply w/ federal laws and regulations.

7. Seriously, we need to stop watching these shows...
We act like we're really gaining visibility! They only put us on television to gain our marketshare. Then they treat us like Stepin Fetchits. Fuck them and treat our relationships as sub-hetero and even sub-human/indecent/immoral.

Why add to their marketshare?

8. But a lesbian kiss would make ratings soar
After all, straight guys (especially homophobic ones, ironically) seem to love lesbians. As long as it's just sexual. And as long as they are lipstick lesbians.
