Michigan Voters Support Gay Benefits Despite Marriage Ban

A new poll suggests that Michigan voters see a disconnect between a constitutional amendment passed last year to ban same-sex marriage and the granting of benefits to the partners of gay and lesbian state workers.

Forty-seven percent of Michigan voters said they support a court ruling that allows governments and universities to provide benefits for the partners of gay workers, while 39 percent oppose it and 14 percent are undecided.

The poll was released Wednesday by Lansing-based EPIC/MRA

1. This does not surprise me at all . . .
but I sure hope someone in TEXAS reads this poll and uses it to EXPLAIN to the people in that fundie bastion that the wingnuts intend to ban any benefits and have tried to do so in Michigan! ! !
