National Gay Rights Activist Makes Up With Bloomberg

Matt Foreman, the executive director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, is ending a yearlong feud with New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and returning to the city's Human Rights Commission.

Forman quit the commission last October when the mayor went to court to fight legislation to force companies doing business with the city to provide domestic partner benefits. (story)

The legislation was passed by city council in May, 2004. The following month Bloomberg vetoed it saying the law would hurt the city. Two weeks later council overrode the veto by a 41 - 4 vote. (story)
