4. They could channel Karl Marx and I wouldn't tune in to hear a word.
Fuck MSNBComcast and their agenda.

Sorry Rachel/Ed/Lawrence. Love each of ya, but this is over the top...

6. I thought I'd at least give the guy a chance, he seems to have pretty liberal creds.
From what I read on another thread. It's not his fault they're screwing KO.

7. I trust your judgment, BT, and hope you are doing well on your journey!
If you say he is a good man, I will take your word until convinced decidedly otherwise. I am not suggesting punishing him (he is in a decidedly BAD position here). I am holding MSNBC responsible for this BS call. I truly hope for those who get caught in the middle of this. I honestly don't think they know what they unleashed onto an already pissed-off progressive community.

8. My journey is back home trying to determine what I need to know about
foreclosures and bankruptcy and awaiting disposition date notices and such. Also re-evaluating my project, as my initial idea seems unworkable. I'm getting educated and hoping to come up with a different path to document the same concerns.

I decided not to journal this week with the elections, figuring I'd seem way too boring in comparison. I hope to start again this weekend or Monday about some more of the characters I met on the test run and some of the political conversations.

I hope to be back on the road in a couple of weeks with an actual itinerary and plan. I learned on the test run that I didn't have enough information to be at the right place at the right time because of just showing up in a few places on the fly.

Anyway, that's not the topic here, thanks for your interest.

I agree that MSNBC/Comcast is screwed and made what appears at this time to be a hypocritical and foolish decision. I watched initially just to see if a statement on behalf of MSNBC was going to be issued, one very short sentence was given, but because it was toward the end, I watched this Roberts fellow and thought he toed the liberal line quite well. So, I thought I'd say so, that's all.

12. Nope. He's a contractually obligated employee.
Until his Union sanctioned action, any refusal to perform under his contract would be grounds for litigation against him. At this moment this is a personal contract issue, and legally that does not give anyone grounds for breaking their own contracts. Rachel did her show, did she not?
I've seen similar situations, and while I am assuming, I do assume that Olbermann would send his blessing to anyone who had to take that chair, because the fact is it is his actions put Roberts in that less than comfy chair. I know he would comprehend the difference between a strike buster and a person obligated to act.
Didn't watch last night, don't know either man, but in general, that would be the case. A strike has to be called by the collective bargaining group, the Union. If that is not the case, you have to fill your contractual duties. A newcomer would have zero power to fight that, and would have to be a suicidal idiot to do so. Keith would not expect that of him or anyone.

13. Under the circumstances
I'm sure Keith was fine with Roberts subbing for him. Tom is a very good man.

Keith will return and Countdown will be back to normal in a few days.

14. Thomas Roberts is gay, since no one's said that explicitly.
Edited on Sat Nov-06-10 06:18 PM by Rhiannon12866
So he must have experienced unfairness and bigotry in his life. Apparently, he came out in 1999. I thought that was relevant, since most of us have been judging him...
