The gay social network -- for straight people

(CNN) -- How do you make a person go from thinking something to doing something? In recent years, when political or advocacy groups ask that question, they usually turn to the Internet.

They create Facebook pages, Twitter feeds and Ning groups. They send out information. Organize people. Plan events. Promote action.

It's a digital riff on a traditional idea.

But an upcoming online social network called Friendfactor is adding a new twist: The gay rights-minded site aims to make people -- not causes and information -- the center of its online campaign.

1. I don't like his assumption that straight people don't care about gay rights.

It seems to me, that even if you don't know a gay person, you should be in favor of gay rights, because we're talking about human rights. It's a little disturbing that people will only think of gay rights if it involves personally knowing a gay person.
