Vengeance Is Mine, Says the Bishop of Portland
I guess the only cheek the Catholic Church in Maine is interested in turning is well

Todays Portland Press Herald reports that the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland, Maine and the Washington-based Catholic Campaign for Human Development have yanked a $17,400 grant to Portland-based Preble Streets Homeless Voices for Justice program, and promise to deny an expected $33,000 for next year. The two organizations say that Preble Street violated its grant agreement by supporting Maines No on 1″ campaign last fall.

Maine voters passed Question 1 and banned same-sex marriage by a 53%-47% margin. But despite that victory, the Catholic Church is still looking backwards to punish its enemies.

Homeless Voices for Justice is a statewide advocacy group led by people who had been homeless themselves. Preble Street runs several housing programs and other services for the homeless and poor. They also provide staff support for Homeless Voices for Justice.

In the comments on the piece, a link was provided for those who want to support Preble Street and their work. I've already made a donation in memory of the "evil Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland" with a confirmation message stating just that to Bishop Malone.

1. Protecting Pedophiles gets one a post at the Vatican
While supporting the rights of loving adults gets one punished. Makes sense to me, not.

3. I mentioned something like that in the confirmation letter to the diocese
Yes, I let them know that I was supporting Preble Street because I heard about their retaliatory crap.

6. Thanks! I'm hoping that there are enough good people out there to
make up for the evil church's retraction of funds from Preble Street.

5. They really must not care about their reputation.
Is it true that the Pope may be resigning due to his connections to child rapists?

I wonder what the point there is for the Catholic church to continue to exist?

7. The child abusing RCC points more fingers
who are the people who pay for them to do this? Each of those people is a bigot and a coat holder for the crimes of the organization that they fund by choice.

8. I love it - conditional charity
just what we expect from "faith based organizations".

I personally think doctors and pharmacists SHOULD be allowed to refuse to treat catholics. What a world that would be.

Oh wait, didn't Catholics support that legislation too, ironically? Those people are from the dark ages, and they should happily go right back there.

-and my favorite Betty Bowers quote: Abstinence makes the church grow fondlers. . . .

11. You take their money, you play their game ...
See how much good the church does?

You know, like to offset the evil (when you impolitely bring it up).
