NJ Senate to vote on gay marriage bill
NJ Senate to vote on gay marriage bill

The New Jersey Star-Ledger is reporting that the full New Jersey senate will vote on whether to legalize gay marriage on Thursday.

Said senate president Richard Codey, “Given the intensely personal nature of this issue, I think the people of this state deserve the right to a formal debate on the Senate floor.”

Says the Star-Ledger:

The Assembly was expected to take up the measure before a full Senate vote, but Assembly Speaker Joseph Roberts (D-Camden) last week said his house would not vote on it until the upper chamber approved the bill.

Many legislators have refused to say publicly where they stand on the matter and how they would vote. Legislators who are in favor of the measure have said support for the bill won’t be known until the votes are tallied.

1. Cool. At least we're getting a vote.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for my friends across the river.

BTW, I can *see* NJ from the roof of my apt building! ( This makes me something of an expert, you realize.)

If you aren't gay there isn't a goddamn thing personal about it. If you aren't gay, it doesn't affect you in the least. GAH! If only busybodies who think they have the gawd-given right to interfere in the lives of others would butt the f*ck out!

3. Good luck! I have a feeling it's only a first step...
but I hope it's a step in the right direction.

I am guessing Mr. Christie would be a large impediment to progress in New Jersey anyway.

5. It Is An Insult To Human Dignity That the Man Can Say "the people deserve a formal debate."

Civil rights should not be debated. Civil rights can either be illegally withheld or lawfully administered.

And HE'S apparently the GOOD GUY!

This country is fucked.
