WTf????
My gay roommate came home yesterday, and he had gone to see his folks for some holiday thing they were doing. He told me about his cousin. This cousin is an artist and was thinking about going into visual arts as a career. Now get this...He told my roommate his GAY cousin,he quit doing art because he thinks most artists are gay.
And being artistic he thinks makes him appear gay so he is quitting art,Thinks doing art is what gives people the gay...WTF???
I never imagined someone could be so homophobic they'll forgo their own creativity and expression for fear of possibly being around gays or being mistaken as gay himself because he is an artist..WTF??

Damn.

I am an artist and I am a feline, transgender male and like guys ,hmm bet that combo would freak'em out. LuLZ
As for art I do my art to literally drag myself out of hell.If I didn't create and express through art I'd be dead.

3. That's just pitiful.
Imagine how he's going to feel years from now as his life is winding down and he realizes he gave up something he would have loved based on a no-brainer. What a waste.

4. He's probably a crappy artist anyway
if he's so damn concerned about his "appearance".

The art world will survive.

6. Heh my mom used to tweak about appearances
But now she has totally given up on that shit after I had the Mowhawk. I'm the art and the artist..and finally she GETS IT.

Sad this guy is so scared of the gay and what he thinks other people would think if he was an artist. He is so scared he shut down his artist within.Yeah I think he may grow to regret his homophobic driven decision one day.
The art community however will be richer and better without bigots like him floating around.

7. I'm guessing he wasn't much of an artist and is deflecting
his failure at that by projection. Lots of failed artists out there blaming anything but their own lack of talent or unwillingness to devote what is needed to their art.

8. A kid in a play I'm directing kept omitting the phrase....
..."Easy does it" from a snippet of dialogue in a scene where his character is assisting someone into a lifeboat. After the third of fourth omission I asked why he didn't speak that part of the written script.

He said: "It's gay."

Do you think heterosexuals need sex education that includes information about homosexuality?

Naaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh.

10. That reminds me of the bit in "Idiocracy"...
...where everyone in the moronic world of the future thinks the time-traveling main character "talks like a fag" because he speaks in complete sentences.

11. Exscuse me,, I'm just a straight guy who likes art
And thinks it's stupid to classify people based on genetalia alone.
I am, however, a far fuckin gone car guy, and what I gotta say - Is this dipstick for real? Let me put some names up on the board - I haven't peeked in any windows, but I've never heard of them being dissed for who they slept with:

Kenny "Von Dutch" Howard - A real original, true artist, popularized pinstriping, invented flame paint, a true wildman.

Gene Winfield - Invented "Candy" paint, superb painter, incredible metal man - watch the "monster gararge"episodes with him to see what I mean.
Jesse James - pioneering bike builder, metal man, fabricator, impresario, hosted "Monster Gararge"
George Barris - custom car pioneer - basically, sculptures that run and drive. some of the best customs ever, also built many movie cars.
Herschel "Junior" Conway - Barris protoge', "World's Best Car Painter" in the Guiness Book. Craftsmanship of incredible level - probably the best painter of tricky candies and pearls on the planet. Has done everything from the hot rod on the Beach Boys album to Pebble Beach concours winners.
"Lil John" Butera - His drag cars were light, innovative, and elegant in all details. Moved to street rods and Indy cars when he tired of his creations being set on fire, with the same attributes of craftsmanship.
There are many more - but I don't have all night, but.
Kenny Youngblood - airbrush pioneer, commercial artist, designer of some of the most iconic race car paint anywhere
Chip Foose - contemporary car designer, host of TV "Overhaulin", 2nd generation builder/impresario.
And a link to a huge treasure trove of automotive art - be sure to look at the Tom Hanna pages, the Smirnoff car, and the paint details on "Blood, Sweat, and Nitro. The "BankAmericar" is a Butera car - be sure to look at the cockpit
<http://cacklefest.com/cacklecars.shtml>

And an artist signs his work

I can go on for days - if anybody is interested in a particular aspect of "car art", PM me, I'll try to hook you up with examples. What am I into? look at some of the machined parts on Tom Hanna's car, and the "engine men" transforming rusty lumps into 2000 ground-shaking horsepower - that's where my heart is.
Oh, and "Panther"? You want a role model for feline grace, google "Jungle Pam". Artists who race, check out Mindy Fry. Checkin' out the boys? Adam Sorokin

12. I once had a math professor at RCC, in Hamlet, NC, who did something very similar.
She changed her major in college because there were gay people in the art program. As much as she loved art, she hated gay people even more.

15. I hate to automatically assume this, BUT...
it sounds like the cousin really secretly is gay and afraid of it. I know I may be wrong, but... that's a pretty strange statement to make, especially if it's something he cares about (art) to someone he cares about. The other not-exclusive option, is that his art sucks too, and he's afraid, so he's making up stupid excuses.
