Learn how the other sides works to help overturn Prop 8
There are new leadership training sessions for the name knockoff group "Catholics For the Common Good" (they took it from a liberal group of the same name). The knockoff apparently only exists as an anti-gay marriage front.

They hold leadership sessions periodically around California to train their followers to push the Prop 8 mentality. If you can stomach the sessions, attend them under cover. Go as a neutral person and just sit and listen quietly while taking mental notes of their approach.

Then reasonable, respectful counterpoints can be produced based on what they plan to put out. The counterpoints need to be respectful to sway any moderates, as you keep the high ground in the debate if they are presented in the best way possible.

Sign up here if you want to learn how the Prop 8 side works. They recently freaked out over Arnold's signing of the bill that recognizes other states' gay marriages.

This is disgusting to read but I present it here to help form counter debate points for the future.

1. Serious question: When something in the GLBT forum gets kicked up to the Greatest thread,
does that mean that

1. only GLBT people should be able to comment on it?

2. only ideas that meet the GLBT "party line" are welcome?

3. if one does post voicing some difference from the party line, is it then fair to say that one has "invaded the GLBT forum" to condemn and harass the GLBT community in their sanctuary?

'Cause I'm hearing "yes" to all the above, and I just wondered if everyone agrees with that.

1. only GLBT people should be able to comment on it?

No. Anyone can comment on the GLBT forum as long as they abide by the rules. Does not matter if the post is on the greatest or not.

2. only ideas that meet the GLBT "party line" are welcome?

No. As long as you are respectful and follow the site rules.

3. if one does post voicing some difference from the party line, is it then fair to say that one has "invaded the GLBT forum" to condemn and harass the GLBT community in their sanctuary?

No. Unless its done with intent to "to condemn and harass the GLBT community in their sanctuary."

3. Civility: Treat other members with respect. Do not post personal attacks against other members of this discussion forum.

4. Content: Do not post messages that are inflammatory, extreme, divisive, incoherent, or otherwise inappropriate. Do not engage in anti-social, disruptive, or trolling behavior. Do not post broad-brush, bigoted statements. The moderators and administrators work very hard to enforce some minimal standards regarding what content is appropriate. But please remember that this is a large and diverse community that includes a broad range of opinion. People who are easily offended, or who are not accustomed to having their opinions (including deeply personal convictions) challenged may not feel entirely comfortable here. A thick skin is necessary to participate on this or any other discussion forum.

3. It just seems like that would be too hurtful of an experience
There's no telling what they say at their meetings--why would anyone want to sit in on their hatefest?
