Qatar Crown Prince Outed
http://www.365gay.com/newscon05/08/080105qatar.htm

Qatar's 25 year old Crown Prince Tameem Bin Hamad Al-Thani has been outed in a British-based publication.

Aljazeera, quoting a Qatar-based Islamic website, reports that the prince and two other Qataris were involved in a bar fight at G.A.Y. one of the biggest gay nightclubs in Britain.

Aljazeera Magazine reports that the heir to the throne of Qatar and two others, one of whom as described as the prince's "partner" have been barred from the club.

so how fundie is Qatar? are they going to stone this guy to death like they did to those kids in Iran or just let him live quietly in the west on oil money

1. From my understanding, Qatar is fairly liberal.

I knew a guy once who dated a gay Qatari (who later died of AIDS).

EDIT: However, personally, I would stay away from most all of the Middle East, even supposedly very liberal Dubai. You just never know.

2. That doesn't mean he's gay...
if he was found at a gay bar. Non-gays go to gay bars too.

3. Arab culture also has ideas about what "gay" is which differ from Western
ones. That is, for many people, for a man to just be SEEN in a gay bar makes him gay, whereas you'll hear people say that there are no gays in Qatar, that "gay" is a Western idea.

4. That still doesn't change the question whether he is actually gay or not
regardless of what a society thinks. That's all I am saying.

5. Actually, that's my complaint about a lot of gays today.
they see gayness where there is any homosexual desire or activity, but what "gay" means to most people is exclusive homosexuality not the mere presence of a homosexual desire or act. Two entirely different things.

6. I see what you're saying.
Although, sometimes, they are not "entirely" different in that one stems from the other, but, I see what you mean. Thanks.
