1. ridicule of others isn't very persuasive even to those who would have otherwise been inclined to
agree with your position.

4. I don't think anyone should TRY to persuade, but ignoring political realities can give you and yours
un-necessary trouble. Maybe that trouble will matter maybe it won't, but I'm just conservative enough to prefer to save my resources for the troubles I can't avoid. Maybe that doesn't matter to you; so be it.

resorting to Daddy-God and other forms of Magical Thinking to save our Asses!

15. Pretty much my experience. We might just as well simply suck our thumbs and humm to ourselves.
That doesn't mean that I don't believe in stuff that is greater than we are; just that we MUST stop being so silly about our relationships to It.

Unfortunately, I looks as though we live in a culture of thumb-suckers.

P.S. I know some around here are going to have some fun with my metaphor, but I don't mind.

16. Thumbsucking has much to recommend it.
Ask any three-year-old. No Prozac needed if you have your thumbs.

17. Lucky You! I wish I had a three-year-old now!
I have some self re-definition to do first and my daughter is finally getting ready to buy a house and that means my first grandkid isn't far behind that when it is an accomplished fact.

Happy Fathers' Day, Mineral Man!

:toast: To you and your Daughter! :toast:
