I'm done posting in DU for now. I'll probably keep reading from time to time; it's a habit that's really tough to break, and LBN is still a unique resource. But it's become abundantly clear that the "rules" here aren't compatible with my vision of a fully equal nation.

No more drama, no more whining, and no more discussion from me. But this posting is here so that the archive can provide a simple answer to the question "Whatever happened to that annoying asshole Newsjock who didn't know his place?"

It's been an interesting six years. Maybe someday later. Have fun, kids.

10. I dont know that I would say that...

there are some here in charge that care... but every 8-12 months there is a blow up here were the admins come in and try to restore some sort of order. It has gone on and on like this for years now. I have seen some very good GLBT posters leave over the years and never come back. Its sad.

I think the main problem is that the Democratic party is very diverse - and currently there are a lot of new Democrats that really are supportive of a person not the party. When the GLBT forum is having problems a lot of the rules of the board that are here for good reason do not work - for instance you can not talk about messages you have had with admin but there are many times that the GLBT folk on the board need to discuss what is going on in order to improve our experience here but its nearly impossible when its against the rules to say what you feel is wrong with the processes of moderation or offering suggestions or observations are returned with unhelpful or condescending replies.

I really think DU should set up a community liaison of sorts for each forum that is here to are set up for minorities so that there is a better way of communicating concerns among the posters and the site admin. When there are problems unfortunately under the current system there is no real two way communication IMO.

has been full of bullies since the last primary season started. That's when things got truly ugly around here, and I think much of the recent conflict is due to people finally getting tired of being bullied.

I do understand the urge to leave, however, and I haven't yet hit the 1000 post threshold. I didn't find DU until after the primaries, so I missed out on that fun. Now I'm finding the venom a bit thick. Take your break; you've certainly earned it, but please know that there are some who really want you to come back when you're ready.
