Question: Does anyone know if Warren has ever been challenged
face-to-face in a public setting about this "marriage has been the same thing for 5000 years" bullshit? Public as in TV interview, radio, other public forum? I haven't seen Ann Curry's interview yet, but it's a cinch she won't do it.

1. To my knowledge no one has.
Jon Stewart challenged Mike Huckabee on that very point. Then again, Jon Stewart is (understandably) fairly well-versed in the Old Testament.

7. Aside from the Old Testament,
the shtick is historically and anthropologically incorrect. Someone with some credentials needs to fix his lying ass (false witness, anyone?). In public. Repeatedly.

8. The only people who confront him theologically do so on rather obscure grounds
like the nature of Christ's sacrifice, or grace v. works, or his mixing and matching of Bible translations, or accusations of dualism... you get the idea.

None of his own will take him on because they agree with him. My clergy (and many lay theologians) won't go near him because they either don't care enough or tacitly agree with him on gay marriage. I don't really know what's up in the Orthodox community, but I suspect it's a similar situation to the Catholic's.

2. Rick Warren has eaten gay food in gay houses with gay friends.
I don't know why they didn't bury him under the tomato plants.

5. Talk about tomato blight.
Nothing would ever grow there again.

3. It is socially repugnant to call religion-based bullshit "bullshit"
It just is not allowed.
