6. It's really quite chilling, actually

The perception management that's going on is pretty transparent once you are on to it.

Waiting for Superman, Bad Teacher, all the gushing publicity and hype about charter schools (much of it distorted and some of it just outright wrong) and, of course, the steady stream of stories of the rare teachers who are dysfunctional or worse. All teachers are bad, and all Muslims are terrorists. That's all you need to know.

Although many of us sheepishly recognize in retrospect those cases when we were manipulated, it's alarming how few people recognize propaganda while they are being subjected to it.
