Perceiver test
I have a question about the validity and how objective this process is?

Someone who has performed a job in the district for several years, has the qualifications for the job has been turned down for an interview because of a perceiver test - it just smells fishy to me.

The person was the assistant to the actual job holder, performing all aspects of the job except teacher evals and is now not qualified enough to even interview for the test.

1. That's the first I've heard of that. Apparently this is used by
many schools to weed out applicants. Based on some old surveys, the answers to the questions are supposed to somehow indicate the likelihood of a person being an effective teacher.

There must be some sort of study guide available for this. If so, I'd sure recommend that applicants do some prep work before taking such a thing.

From what I understand, it was traditionally an orally-administered list of 65 questions that were answered in a free-form way. Now, I understand that it is an online questionaire that is machine scored by looking for key phrases. Sounds like some study is in order to make sure you use those key phrases in your answers.

2. Gallup offers one of these tests, called TeacherInsight.

I cannot find any information on how to take it successfully, though. Interesting.

3. Here's a link to about the best information I could find on the
test.

http://www.careercenter.ilstu.edu/downloads/TeacherInsightthemes.pdf

A smart person should be able to learn these themes and respond appropriately to the questions asked. The themes give an idea of what's being looked for in the questions.

4. I've never heard of it.
Mineral Man's link intrigues me. I'd like to see the questions.
