You reach that moral line, that moral tipping point
To cut $171.9 million from schools or not to cut? Certain House members think the state is better off with the cut.

Topeka school board member Patrick Woods sets them straight. This message should be in the minds of all legislators, but apparently some have more important causes than educating Kansas children. As they like to say, it is a difference in philosophies, but which philosophy do the majority of Kansans subscribe to?

Patrick Woods, a school board member in Topeka Unified School District 501, said cuts would have a "tremendous impact on kids' lives." He said the level of education shouldn't suffer for a child because he or she attends school during a recession.

"You reach that moral line, that moral tipping point where you need to decide, while this may be a rough patch for me as an elected official, this is the only time a kindergartner gets to be a kindergartner," Woods said.
