Well on a lark I updated this free program... and you know what? It improved to the point that it may just become my program of choice on the nettie.

I love Scrivener on the Mac. Full Screen mode (one of the modes) is so scrivener like, that I am in heaven.

1. I love yWriter
I don't know how I would've finished my novel without it. I strongly recommend it and I really should donate to the site for all the productivity it's given me. IIRC, you were the one who clued me in on this app many months ago. :hi:

2. I've tried older versions
And I wasn't unhappy with it. It just felt a little clunky to get into. And then trying to assemble the work in a common form like word for my writing group to see just seemed a pain in the ass.

So I used it for planning chapters, but not the writing part.

On your suggestion, I downloaded it the first time. Now I'll download the new version and see if I don't like it better.

Thanks for the update.

3. You welcome
if you use the Marshall Plan, or something like it, it is made for you.

Otherwise it can be and is clunky. But the export to RTF works better.

I will be honest. I am doing only draft zero on it, then exporting and polishing that diamond in the rough in word.

What I liked was the full screen, WITH margins.

4. I'm of basically the same opinion
When I've tried to use it, I've felt as though I'm wasting a lot of time organizing a cigar box full of index cards rather than actually writing.

As an organizational tool it's probably very effective for people who become comfortable using it, but it's more of an obstacle than an aid for me.

YMMV of course.
