Calling all geeks who love baseball and the online phenomenon known as lolcats.

July 9 is Cheezburger Night and Safeco Field, and it has nothing to do with food.

From the event's description on the Mariners Web site (if you can read it):

I've invented a new game I call pedestrian bowling - basically if someone is coming towards me all electronically attached to a bunch of things (in Seattle, this can be more than 50% of the people you see on the street at any time) I refuse to give way if they are going to bump into me because they're not paying attention. Sure, I get a few glares, but it's worth it.

I invented this when I was almost pushed into oncoming traffic by a person holding a giant latte, listening to an iPod, and heaving a huge Trader Joe's shopping bag.....she couldn't see me with all her crap, and banged into me.

or when I'm driving. I call my SO when I'm getting close to the bus stop so he can pick me up, and I look up sports scores on it - that's about it. I text people usually just when we're about to meet up, so we can find each other (I do find these uses undeniably convenient - especially in Seattle, where you're never going to get a Tigers or Red Wings score on the radio or even TV sometimes).

I don't have an iPod though. I just don't enjoy those little buds in my ears. A friend is always pulling up songs for me when we go out Thursday nights and I don't really like the feeling of having music playing while I can't hear the people around me. It makes me feel like I'm watching everything through a window. I like to be more engaged with my surroundings.
