the large problem in baseball is that the Players Association was more concerned with protecting players earning potential than they were concerned about the players. Juxtapose that with the NFLPA who (with the players) set the rules against using steroids and human growth hormones and the like. They were not only concerned with long term damage but with having to go on "the juice" to get into the league or (more importantly) to stay in the league. Baseball didn't do that.

The NFLPA established supplements (sold exclusively by EAS Sports) but they shut down putting monsters on the field and making people become monsters in order to beat the young monsters coming into the league.

And it was very common back then, so i'd say he probably did, if you count amphetamines as performance enhancers.

him to admit gambling on his own games. I think Rose's problem is gambling and not drugs. Notice I used the verb "is" and not "was".
