Throw the 49ers into Mike Vick sweepstakes

49ers head coach Mike Singletary may have opened the floodgates into a wave of Michael Vick speculation Tuesday night when he said the team would consider acquiring the suspended and imprisoned quarterback.

"I'm not going to say I'm open or closed," Singletary said of potentially getting Vick, according to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat.

"I'd say it has to be something (GM) Scot (McCloughan) and I talk about and feel good about one way or the other. But we have not talked about it at this point in great detail. We're trying to focus on what we have."

Team president Jed York said he'd entertain the potential for Vick if McCloughan and Singletary are convinced he's a good fit.

"We'd talk about it," York said. "If they felt it was right for the team, and convince me and my parents ... it's up to them to show that somebody who's had issues in the past can be a part of this team. But that's not something we've discussed, and I doubt that would happen."

The Falcons said Friday they plan to trade Vick, who has been suspended for 18 months after pleading to a role in a federal dogfighting ring. He is set to leave prison in July.

The NFL would still have to reinstate Vick before he's eligible to play.

Among the 49ers current quarterbacks, Singletary refused to endorse Shaun Hill as the starter on Monday night and said he's hoping for a competition in training camp.

4. I think Vick's best bet is with the Dolphins
he could back up weak armed Chad...and he could hang out with fellow animal abuser Joey Porter.

In 2008, the Dolphins weak schedule of opponents combined for a 118-138 record...a winning percentage of .460. However, the combined 2008 records for next season's schedule is 152-104, for a winning percentage of .594.

Things can always change from year to year in the NFL, but looking at things objectively I would have to say Miami will be lucky to win 8 games..... and most certainly you can forget the playoffs.

On Edit: The 49ers kicked the Dolphins all over the field:

Total yards

49ers-318
Dolphins-248

First Downs

49ers-24
Dolphins-11

13. Scoreboard Bitch
There's one loser and one winner in this ---- and it aint me.

Your team lost to a team that they outplayed--- which proves that your team are a bunch of pussies who can't close the deal.

I'll say it again--- you lost---I won.

Bitch

15. I've already put that down as a Niner win.....they dominated
Miami.

Even with more points, Miami certainly didn't deserve to win.

They should really put an asterisk next to the school, so people know the truth behind the grossly deceptive "score."

18. Of course you would----
This was pro ball you dumb ass.... why would they put an asterisk next to the "school"?

Only you and your other half would make a loss a win----which is the story of your existence on this forum.

I'll edit my OP. ESPN was talking about Singletary and Vick.

10. Vick has no business being an NFL quarterback.
And not because of the dogfighting conviction. His debt will be paid to society when he's released. He just wasn't a very consistent passer when he was on the field. How good can he be after 2 years of rust? The only future he should have in the NFL is as a receiver.

17. Ha! I called this saturday night.
San Fran or St. Louis if he is reinstated. But the Niners will not trade for a player that is sure to be released otherwise. His contract is ridiculous.
