Anybody believe Clemens now?
After his interview with Mike Wallace?

There were a couple of things he said that put doubt in my mind about his innocence.

One, when asked about his reasons to continue to play he said it had nothing to do with fame or getting in The Hall of Fame but he actually didn't say why. Was he too embarrassed to say that it was his love of playing or the money? I doubt it. He doesn't seem to be embarrassed about anything.

The other was when in one breath he said that he was eating Vioxx like Skittles then in the next said that he would never put things in his body that would hurt it. Sure, he didn't know how harmful Vioxx was but he was sure willing to take all kinds of pain killers.

And his little comment about McNamee getting his fishing equipment three days before the Mitchell Report was very nasty. Is that all he can come up with?

It was pretty interesting watching all the footage from his earlier interview with Wallace where McNamee was training him. So what does McNamee have against him now to lie?

I know it is hard to prove that you did NOT do something, but sorry Rocket, you need someone other than yourself to refute McNamee's story.

2. Pettitte coming out and admitting McNamee was telling the truth was the end for Roger.
Why is McNamee going to lie about Clemens after telling the truth about Pettitte? Especially when he faces perjury charges for doing so.

No, Roger, 25 years of throwing baseballs doesn't earn you any extra consideration. You play a game for a living, and have made tens of millions doing it. You haven't been a doctor, a fireman, a soldier, a teacher or some other noble profession that might warrant you receiving the special treatment you desire - and to which you have become accustomed. You're just a ballplayer, not a hero.

IMHO, he's got the biggest case of Giambi-face I've ever seen. I hope you know what I mean.

6. My Take
One of the things that made him lose a little more credibility was when he said that if he had taken steroids or HGH he would have had a third ear coming out of his forehead and all types of other things happening to him. Another things was when he was asked why McNamee would be untruthtful about him, Clemens claimed that McNamee was trying to stay out of jail. According, to what most people have heard McNamee was told by the federal government that if he was untruthful he would go to jail. Would McNamee risk going to jail just to get at one guy when he had already named dozens of players?

10. Well, you have to admit
Pettitte does look strange with that third ear and seven fingers on his left hand.

7. And he has behaved on the field like a guy with a bit of 'roid rage.
He's a liar.

His career was tanking in Boston, then - as if by magic - his career is revived and he's better than he's ever been!

9. He has also filed a suit against McNamee
No damage amount requested. He apparently filed electronically, just before the 60 Minutes piece aired last night. Obviously the spin he wanted this morning was: He's really standing up for himself! He answered questions from Mike Wallace and now he's filing a law suit! He must be innocent!

However, Mike Wallace is his friend and hangs out in the Yankee box with Steinbrenner (and didn't exactly give Roger the high heat Roger throws on the mound) and most people see this lawsuit as a convenient way to get out of testifying before Congress - "Sorry, I can't comment because we have an ongoing lawsuit." Scott McClellan should be his spokesman.

14. Well, he was still pretty angry.
But maybe he should be if he is innocent and can't prove it. It was funny when his lawyer passed him a note to "chill out". Roger pushed it back and told everyone about it. Was that staged? Probably just his 'roid rage showing. ;-)

See my other response.

15. Lydacaine in the derriere?
It's a local pain killer, usually used for joints isn't it? Does a B12 shot hurt that bad?

18. He was convincing to me.
Rocket does not look like a steroid or HGH user first of all. His head is the same size as it was when he came into the league and he never bulked up to monster size. He gained some weight in the years since he was a kid rookie but nothing like the changes in Barry Bonds or Lenny Dykstra. I just don't see it. When someone is juicing it's obvious. It seems to me that McNamee needed a big name to throw under the bus.

19. I actually think he does look like a steroid user
If you look at his face from the time he was in Boston to when he was with the Astros, it became a bit more round, which is the hallmark of steroids (I have a sister who uses them for medical reasons, I am familiar with the moonface). There is also to me a stockiness that evolved of muscle which at his age, shouldn't have happened.
Besides, I don't think its coincidental that he has become much more injury prone in the last few years. Ever since they started testing for steroids.
He may not have been a heavy user, but I do think he used (and that whole rant about third eye, quick fix etc, was sooo over the top that it makes me wonder, because if you want to explain why you don't use an illegal substance wouldn't you actually talk about the actual health effects? Either he's dumb or.....

20. When asked on the phone by McNamee "what do you want me to do",
Clemens should have said. Come out with me and tell everyone that you never injected me with steroids. But Clemens never went that route. His attorneys made sure that Clemens would never ask a specific question about any of the charges. They were sitting with him while he taped the phone conversation without McNamee knowing and they could never get him to say he lied.
