Holy shit...tell me not to get too excited...
It's the first quarter and the Texas Tech Red Raiders are already up 21-0 on UT. Holy shit!

2. I knew 21 points...
wasn't a big enough lead. A 10 point lead at halftime isn't even close to enough.

This game makes me crazy every year. My heart wants Tech to win. But the last few years my head has known UT had a better crack at the national championship. I mean shit...USC lost today. UT needs to win. But but but...it's Tech. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's SO much easier when either of them plays A&M. :P

3. Cheering for UT is like cheering for IBM.
Go with your heart.

I can't stand Baylor by the way. x(

Just saw the Baylor-A&M score. WTF?

And I am rooting with my heart.Fight Raiders Fight! But...I won't stay sad for long if UT comes back and wins. It's a no win and a no lose situation.

5. Baylor ALWAYS plays A&M tough.
Even when they really, really sucked, they gave us a game.

We're up late in the game. :scared:

6. I just sang the most half-hearted version...
of Texas Fight you ever heard. They scored to go up 35-31 with about 13 minutes left in the game. This game makes me NUTS!!!

BTW, just to make you feel bad...I have my fingers crossed for the Aggies. :P

11. Please don't.
You guys have the ability to strike quick (as I rub out the sight of your last-second win in College Station out of my mind's eye). There's plenty of time left.

Amazing what TV timeouts do to a game. The A&M-Baylor game started at 6:05.

13. Ahem...Mr. Filani, they have orange sticks that mark first downs.
On 4th down, it makes sense to go beyond them to receive the ball. x(

18. As much as I love it...
when Leech goes for it on 4th down...if he had kicked last time and made it, he could have kicked here to take the lead.

19. Well, in Harrell's defense, it looks a bit wet. He slipped.
If it were dry, he'd have made it, I think.

20. The good news is I got my wish...
I wanted a close game. The last two years, UT has stomped Tech. It's been much more entertaining this year.

The UT defensive coordinator deserves a lot of credit for whatever adjustments he made at halftime.

I can live with this. I'll pout a little bit tonight...and then tomorrow I'll remember I'm a UT alumni too and be all better.

Like I said earlier, this is the best and worst day of the entire year. :)

25. I'm watching South Carolina/Tennessee now.
This has been an entertaining game. I don't care for Spurrier OR Tennessee, but this guy playing QB for South Carolina is fun! I hope he can pull this one out.

on yahoo sports. They announcers do NOT have the accents I was expecting. :) And I think I can hear Rocky Top in the background. I LOATHE that fucking song.

Edited to add: I just got a new voice with the most amazing accent you ever heard.

32. I started to reply last night but my laptop died.
So now I'm on the desktop and able to add this:

I neither gloat nor lament in public so I didn't join your conversation. It was certainly a heartstopper -- which makes two in a row! -- and after the way OSU beat Nebraska, I'm not taking next week for granted either! But I'm very happy that the Longhorns pulled it together to win against that incredible Tech offense, especially after USC was upset. At least for a while longer, we can still dare to believe that we could end up defending our national championship. I'm not sure there were many who thought we would be in this position after losing Vince Young and starting a redshirt freshman, one who was still vying for the position as of summer camp!

Hook 'em, Horns!

33. I was in the unenviable position
of being an alumni of both Texas Tech and UT. Every year this game makes me nuts. I went to Tech first, and I was in the band, and my heart belongs to the Red Raiders first. But I root for UT against absolutely everyone else (I went there for grad school). So I'm doing ok today. It was a great game. Tech played well (unlike the last couple of years when they got blown out). And UT is still in the hunt. Beats the hell out of a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. :)
