Shannon Sharpe: Great Tight End, crummy commentator.
The guy could flat-out play as a TE, but the guy just flat-out can't speak clearly. In just trying to understand him, I miss half of what he is saying. CBS surely can find somebody who can be understood.

Anyone else have the same problem following him?

1. Yep!
He drives me nuts -- I can barely understand what he is saying. Perhaps if he took that box of rocks out of his mouth and took some speech lessons I could make sense of every other word.

3. I almost feel bad for thinking it, because he was gold on the field.
He does sound like he has rocks or marbles in his mouth. I just want to hear what they are saying, and I view the ability to speak clearly as being pretty important for a sports commentator.

4. Where is he now?
I don't see him too often. Is he on ESPN?

He was a heck of a player, too.

5. he is a backup
announcer for ESPN. He is also on Playbook on the NFL Network. He'll be doing the Giants game tomorrow night.

6. I seem to remember him doing a decent job.
I honestly have been suprised by Troy Aikman. I haven't seen many commentators as fair as him, even when announcing Redskin's games. He seems to be able to set aside playing for the Cowboys in his job. That's something I can't quite say for Theismann. Usually Theismann is good, but sometimes the bias seeps in.

7. Theesman
is awful as is that entire crew. Whoever is playing if front of them is the best ever.

Aikman and Simms are good. Madden has returned to form this year.
