Congrats to all the players in the HR Derby, especially Adrian Gonzales who did great.

1. Un-recced. Babe Ruth would have believed that the "HR Derby" is the joke
that it is.

Now he might have pounded down more than a few cocktail watching these posers try and hit pitches that were lobbed at them.

2. He Used To Do Exhibitions Of Home Run Hitting
When he was barnstorming, that's one of the things he did. It's in his bio and in a book by George Meany on the greats of the game up to 1950. (Tt's a pretty old book. I had it when i was 10, and still have it.)

What's the difference between the HR Derby and barnstorming to show off hitting home runs?

I don't think Babe would have looked down on it.

3. It's entertainment, but of course Cano acted as if it was the Second Coming...
Another classless Spankme player, WHAT a surprise.

7. Red Sox fans have such an inferiority complex
Understandably I guess.

4. I was surprised Cano even ended up in the HR Derby
I've watched a fair amount of Yankee baseball over the years, while visiting Mom and Republican Stepdad, and I see Cano as an excellent contact hitter with enough pop to keep pitchers and defenses honest, but by no means the kind of slugger who goes to HR Derby.

So of course he goes out and wins the thing. :eyes:

6. The ESPN announcers were talking about Cano breaking the 2nd Baseman all time HR record
It was getting ridiculous by ESPN. Cano has never hit more than 29 HR's and averages 22 a season. The record is 42 by Davey Johnson and Rogers Hornsby. It's possible Cano will have a ridiculous season hitting homers at some point, but that's not realy who he is.

8. What makes you think babe Ruth is "looking down" on anyone or anything?
Suppose he was screaming up?
