Poll question: Should Prosecutors retry Bonds on the perjury counts?
Is the one obstruction charge enough? Maybe Bonds is placed under house arrest for that -- maybe he even gets a month or two in jail, provided his defense doesn't appeal.

Would you support having the government retry Bonds for perjury? It would cost a lot of money to do this, but it's costing Bonds too.

What if the trial was moved to a more neutral location than San Francisco? I'm beginning to wonder if Bonds had fans on the jury.

As much as I would like to say yes, my answer is no. The witnesses needed to nail him won't talk or tell the truth. I'm sure the prosecutors did their best, but it's time to move on.

Sorry, polls are turned off at Level 3.

1. Bonds had fans on the jury?
Considering the vote was 8-4 and 9-3 to acquit him on two of the remaining charges...and 11-1 to convict on the other, I don't see how you can possibly come to that conclusion one way or another..

4. I bet he did have fans on that jury
At least one, probably...that 11-1 seems to indicate that. I've been on a hung jury where it was just one nutcase driving everyone else crazy with idiocy (in my case it was because the nutter thought a witness who was on disability for a back injury was not believable simply because they were on disability. Ugh). Do I believe that if this case was moved that it would be a different outcome? Yes, probably. But I don't think that the govt is going to want to spend the time and money to do that, assuming they even want to retry the case which is unlikely.

2. they should at least threaten to...maybe he'll cut a deal...
he won't do jail time on the obstruction count, and he should spend some time behind bars to send a message to other asshole athletes that if you do the crime, you do the time.

6. No.
He can get a long stretch in the pokey for obstruction. Let's satisfy ourselves with that and let the rest go. He's not a war criminal, after all.

7. I agree
Time to let this guy ride off into a quite sunset with hopes he won't be heard from for a couple of years.

Oh but then he'll come back someday, probably as a batting coach and then start the PR to attempt to rehabilitate his image.

8. Me too.
I'm so sick of hearing about him/seeing him on my TV. I just want him to fade off into the obscurity he so richly deserves
