What does that say about the state of basketball in the U.S. ?

1. Dunno, but it shows the US can still produce and package a great product.
I can't believe how popular the NBA is here in Hong Kong.

2. i haven't paid for an nba ticket since bird retired
i agree with john wooden; if you like to watch good well played basket ball watch the women's game.

maybe its the philadelphia upbringing, where we are taught to boo santa claus if he doesn't hustle, but i gave up on the nba a long time ago. there is nothing more distaeful to a working man than to spend his hard earned cash on an nba ticket and watch multi-millionaires loaf down the court for their 24 minutes a night of game time.

3. Then watch the "boring" Spurs
Who hustle every minute of the game. Of course, that's "boring" to most people. They just hustle, play a team game, great defense, very good offense. You know, well-balanced. No egos. No bling, no posses.

Just good, honest hard work. After all, they have a coach who called a time out with 2 or 3 minutes to go, with his team up by 21, to yell at them for not playing defense hard enough.

4. It shows
That the sports media in the US is utterly incompetent, as it's leading the charge in accusing the Spurs and Pistons of being 'boring'.

It says more about the state of basketball fans than basketball in the US.
