Andrew Luck staying at Stanford..
Stanford's star quarterback Andrew Luck will return to school for his junior season instead of entering the NFL draft, the school announced today.

Luck's announcement comes as coach Jim Harbaugh reportedly is weighing offers from the 49ers and Miami Dolphins.

Luck, a redshirt sophomore who led the Cardinal (12-1) to a historic season that culminated with a 40-12 victory in the Orange Bowl on Monday night, would have been the first pick in the draft. Carolina Panthers officials said this week they had planned to take the quarterback with their first selection.

But Luck said he wanted to graduate before turning pro.

"I am committed to earning my degree in architectural design," he said in a prepared statement.

Translation. "If I dont stay in school and get this degree now,
after 4 years at Carolina getting sacked 5 times a game and enduring
multiple concussions I wont have the mental capacity to come back to Stanford and finish it later".

6. Harbaugh is going to Miami
For the delusional 49er fans who refuse to believe it.

7. Looks that way right now..
If Miami wants to make some guy who has never won a game one of highest paid coaches in the NFL...fine. Some 49er fans seem to think Harbaugh is the second coming of Bill Walsh or something. I'm not among those. I think the 49ers need someone with real NFL coaching experience...

17. Denial by fans or ownership?
Either way, it's pathetic.

9. I wonder if Carolina will trade back now and give Clausen more time to develop
or spend the number one pick on Mallet, Gabbert, Newton? After all the Luck love, those other QBs somehow don't seem worthy of going #1 overall.

I haven't got a clue who should be the #1 pick, there isn't really a "Bradford vs. Suh" debate like last year.

13. Well, if the 49ers can avoid fixing things for a year
their chances at Luck could improve. Perhaps Alex Smith deserves a little more time to development, and maybe Jim Zorn got a raw deal in Washington. I say give them both a shot in '11.

16. The Luck of the Cardinal
Or is that "Indian"?

Shit, the guy is only a sophomore! Architectural Engineering isn't an easy major. He could make big bucks in that field.
