Killer of Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart gets 51 years to life

The man responsible for the death of Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart and two other people was sentenced today to 51 years to life in prison.

Andrew Gallo, 24, had a blood-alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit on April 9, 2009, when he drove through a red light at an Orange County intersection and T-boned the car carrying Adenhart and three friends.
------
In September, Gallo was convicted of three counts of second-degree murder and single counts of drunken driving, hit-and-run driving, and driving under the influence of alcohol and causing great bodily injury.

On Wednesday, he was sentenced by Judge Richard Toohey to 15 years to life on each of the murder counts, with the additional six years added for the other crimes.

Yep, it was an accident, but the dude was driving drunk. Considering he killed 3 people, I'd say he's lucky he got off this easy.

driving drunk.

Donte Stallworth sentenced to 30 days for a dui murder.

Even Rae Carruth only got eighteen years for killing someone.

Let's see, wealthy sports guy gets off easy. Poor minority gets the book thrown at him.

Yeah. Way to go, Upton.

2. Gallo's previous DUIs (more than 1) probably didn't help his case much either. n/t

3. I am sure they did not.
That was not exactly my point, though.

8. My point was that comparing a celebrity with no DUI's
to a "nobody" with many isn't really a fair comparison either. I've known regular folks who've gotten deals similar to Leyritz on their first, even when they killed someone.

4. What are you tallking about?

Gallo killed 3 people, at a time when he was already on parole for a felony DUI conviction. Poor minority my ass.

Save your sympathy for the victims and their families. Or is that too much to ask?

5. The inequities in the justice system.
It is interesting to see you standing up for the wealthy sports defendants, yet pooh-pooh the poor defendant. I don't ever recall you complaining about Donte Stallworth getting a whole 30 days after killing a man after his dui.

6. I've never stood up for Leyritz or Stallworth
and you know it. So justice is bought and sold in this country....what else is new? However, it doesn't absolve Gallo of his crimes. And no matter how you might want to frame it, 3 people are still dead because of him.

7. "So justice is bought and sold in this country" And you don't seem to care

that it happens. That is what PISSES me off.

How many people have spent time in jail for getting caught doing the same drugs as Barry Bonds, Rush Limbaugh, and Steve Howe have done, that did not have the legal options (money) available to them that they did. Do we need to bring OJ Simpson into this discussion?

BULLSHIT, Upton. You know exactly what the fuck I am talking about.
