As a long-suffering Brewers fan, I'm not too fond of this trade. Losing Cain seems ridiculous, since the team will lose Fielder after next season. Further, Betancourt is a joke as SS. He had potential, but he does not work, while Escobar has the potential to become something special. I hope I'm wrong, if this comes to fruition.

Still, under the best of circumstances, with what could be a very good pitching staff, making the playoffs seems like a best case scenario. Winning the NL or the WS, seems ludicrous with this team, so why give up so much?

1. I'm kinda glad my Nats lost out on this one
Greinke said he wouldn't go and to me what KC was asking for was worth WAAAAY more to the franchise than one single anxiety ridden pitcher. (Jordan Zimmerman, promising young pitcher, best closer Drew Storen, and young talent Danny Espinosa). Well good luck with him. Maybe Milwaukee is close enough that one player makes a big difference..

8. Time will tell if the anxiety issue is overblown.
I hope so!

In a world without the Phillies, the Brewers starting pitching is quite incredible, uh, especially for the Brewers, and, of course, only on paper. They have the hitters. Fielding is hit and miss, and it got worse with this trade. The NL remains weak overall, however, so they contend the next couple years, if everyone stays healthy.

2. If Greinke and Gallardo can stay healthy
That's a pretty good one/two punch at the top of the rotation. And The N.L. Central may be weak this year except for Cincy. So it may not be a bad trade for the Brewers.

7. It could be a fairly good 1,2,3, with potential for a better than average 4.

Marcum is no slouch as a 3. Heck, a lot of teams would love him as a 1.

And maybe Betancourt will get in shape this winter. If he ever worked at it, he could be quite good.

I hope you're right, at any rate.

3. Looks like KC made out on this one
Especially like the two young pitchers.

4. The two young pitchers are actually not that hot, IMO.
It's a guy with all-star potential in center field, and a possible lead-off, great field SS, both with several years before free agency, that kills Milwaukee.

5. The two pitchers might be the prizes for KC-- IMO
Especially the 20 yr old, Odorizzi. And both were former #1 picks.

6. It's possible, but the odds are not with them.
At this point in their careers, they're like a pilot study on a new treatment that shows mild promise for future research. OTO, they will give KC more to trade in the future, if nothing else.
