Rare Tom Landry items to be displayed during State Fair of Texas

A display featuring private memorabilia from legendary Dallas Cowboys coach Tom Landry will complement an exhibit celebrating a century of North Texas football when the State Fair of Texas opens next month.

Alicia Landry, the iconic coach’s widow, will provide most of the items from her private collection – much of which has never been seen in public before. It will include championship game balls, trophies and one of the coach’s trademark felt fedoras.

“I am delighted to provide all of the items for exhibition,” she said. “Not only does it honor my husband in a wonderful way, it also gives people an opportunity to learn more about the man as well as the coach.”

Today's announcement of the display was seen as a touchdown for the fair, the Dallas Historical Society and the Super Bowl XLV Host Committee.

The State Fair of Texas runs from Sept. 24 through Oct. 17....

I just might have to make a trip back to Dallas for this. I used to go every year. All Dallas schools even had a 'fair day" where we didn't have classes. The Texas State Fair is the largest of all state fairs and sure beats the shit out of the small smelly one in Iowa. :P
